The City of Hutto is pleased to announce that Cheney Gamboa has been promoted to director of economic development after a rigorous and competitive selection process.

Gamboa has been the City’s assistant director of economic development for over a year, prior to which she served on the Hutto Economic Development Corporation (EDC) Board of Directors. She’s already hit the ground running in her new position this month, with many high-impact projects well in the works and others just around the corner.

“I’m beyond honored to continue to serve my community in this role, “ she said. “We have an incredible team in the City of Hutto, and we are on a great path to execute on several major legacy projects for Hutto. I’m look forward to supporting prosperity for Hutto well into the future.”

The City Manager will formally recognize Gamboa's promotion during the Hutto City Council meeting at 7 pm Thursday, Dec. 7.  Click here to connect with her professionally.

She holds a Master’s of Business Administration with concentrations in project management and global management, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in business administration with concentrations in management and marketing. In addition, earlier this year earned a graduate certificate in real estate investment and development.

Gamboa has years of account management experience with both products and services, through which she cultivated successful client and peer relationships built on respect and accountability. She’s collaborated effectively with corporate and community partners to develop, present, and implement business solutions.

Gamboa is also a sought-after speaker, having been invited to present to groups ranging from Hutto ISD staff to the Texas Economic Development Council (TEDC)—where she was a panelist for a state training this month on sales taxes. In addition, she is a member of the Future Leaders Training (FLT) program with TEDC.

Living in Hutto with her husband and three children, she’s been a highly active member of the Hutto community for several years, giving her time and talents to organizations including Girl Scouts of America, her neighborhood Homeowners Association, the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, and Hutto ISD.
