BEAUMONT — Beaumont Mayor Roy West and City Manager Kenneth Williams tell KFDM/Fox 4 News they wish the city's former CFO the best following his resignation and thank him for his years of service, but take issue with concerns he raised about the budget process.

Todd Simoneaux has resigned, effective Thursday. He sent a letter to the city manager, citing financial concerns about the budget. He believes they weren't addressed and could affect the city's financial condition.

We reached out to Mayor West and City Manager Williams for their reaction.

"I wish the best for Todd Simoneaux and thank him for 18 years of service," said Williams. "I reached out twice to talk with Simoneaux about his concerns, because in his letter he asked us to contact him if we wanted to discuss his resignation, but I haven't heard back from him. The city has put together a good, responsible budget and we're in a good place. He was a part of that process. We'll work diligently with that budget all year. We'll complete an audit soon. If we have to make adjustments, we will, but based on what I know, we're in a good place."

Mayor West agrees.

"This is my first city budget," Mayor West told us, "but I've put together and done budgets my entire life. We have to be fiscally responsible, and we are, but we're in a good spot. We do need additional revenue. The city is moving forward on the projects."
