EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — An El Paso city auditor filed a lawsuit against the city and several city employees and former employees alleging he was harassed and intimated after he conducted the audit for the city gas cards.
The auditor, Edmundo Calderon filed the against the city and former City Manager Tommy Gonzalez, City Attorney Karla Nieman, Assistant City Attorney Juan Gonzalez, City. Rep. Cassandra Hernandez, Jeremy Jordan, Hernandez's husband, and Deborah Paz.
Calderon claims that after he conducted the audit, he was harassed, intimidated and suffered retaliation from the people he is suing.
Calderon is requesting $1 million in damages for the incident having damaged his reputation, according to Calderon.
The audit found several city council members were misusing their gas cards.
City Rep. Cassandra Hernandez and former city rep. Claudia Rodriguez were reprimanded as they were the members who misused their gas cards the most.
The commission decided Hernandez abused her power when she spent $6,700 in gas in one year, which is thousands more than other members of council, excluding former Rep. Claudia Rodriguez who spent about $5,300.
