North Texas is home to many impressive and rapidly growing cities. With more people, there might be more concerns about safety. Good news! A recent study named three North Texas cities among the safest in America in 2023.

After analyzing 302 cities in America with a population of more than 100,000, HomeSnacks released a list of the safest cities in America for 2023, featuring Frisco, Allen and McKinney.

According to the study, residents and visitors in Frisco only have a 1 in 1,000 chance of being the victim of a crime, making it the fifth safest city in the U.S. With 94 violent crimes per 100,000 people (ranking 11th safest) and 901 property crimes per 100,000 people (also ranking 11th safest), the community exhibits relatively low crime rates.

Coming in seventh, Allen is also among the safest cities. The city recorded 97 violent crimes per 100,000 people (ranking 12th safest) and 920 property crimes per 100,000 people (ranking 13th safest).

In ninth place is McKinney. With 127 violent crimes per 100,000 people (ranking 22nd safest) and 887 property crimes per 100,000 people (ranking 10th safest), the community is still relatively safe, with a higher incidence of violent crimes but a lower rate of property crimes.

Here is HomeSnack's full list of safe cities:

  1. Carmel, IN
  2. Naperville, IL
  3. Thousand Oaks, CA
  4. Cary, NC
  5. Frisco, TX
  6. Murrieta, CA
  7. Allen, TX
  8. Port St. Lucie, FL
  9. McKinney, TX
  10. League City, TX

To determine the ranking, HomeSnacks examined data from the FBI's latest crime report as of September 2022. The analysis focused on the FBI's Uniform Crime Report, a comprehensive summary of annual property and violent crime statistics for each city, assessing two key criteria: violent crimes per capita (encompassing murders, assaults and armed robberies) and property crimes per capita (including thefts, burglaries and motor vehicle thefts).
