Jourdanton Police Chief Eric Kaiser has informed the City of Jourdanton and the public of his intentions to retire from the Jourdanton Police Department on January 31, 2024.

Kaiser has worked for nearly 22 years with the Jourdanton Police Department and 15 years of those as chief of police.

“Jourdanton is a great place with limitless potential and it has been among the highest honors of my life to have been trusted with your police department and the safety of your city,” he said. “In 6 weeks I will leave the department in the capable hands of a great crew and hope that you will support them every bit as much as you have supported me.”

Along with serving as police chief, he has served as a patrolman, patrol corporal and sergeant investigator.

Kaiser was hired by retired JPD Chief Ronnie Lawson as a patrolman and former city manager, the late Dan Nick, promoted him as police chief at the age of 38.

“I have met people and done things that were both inspirational and heartbreaking and have been proud of what we have accomplished as a team,” Kaiser said. “While I will be exploring new opportunities, my family calls Atascosa County home and will not be going anywhere. Twenty two years flew by. Thank you for the part so many of you played in making my career here such a great one.”

While the City of Jourdanton is currently in the process of hiring a new city manager, City Secretary Debbie Molina is currently serving as interim city manager until the position is filled. Kaiser has served as interim city manager previously during the hiring process in 2022 when the position was vacant for a short period of time.
