Gonzalez Garza: No money has gone missing at Mission City Hall

MISSION, Texas – Mission Mayor Norie Gonzalez Garza has given more interviews about the failure of city officials to send sales tax revenues to the Mission Economic Development Corporation.

About $3.1 million was withheld, without her knowledge. The nonpayments started last April. Mayor Gonzalez Garza said she only learned about it in late November. She says she does not know why the money was not passed on MEDC.

In an interview with KRGV-TV and the Rio Grande Guardian International News Service, Gonzalez Garza said she wanted to dispel rumors that money has gone missing. She also said the money was not held back because the city had cashflow problems.
