Manvel has seen several changes this year, including electing its youngest mayor in May, and now may be getting a new permanent city manager.

Manvel City Council is holding a special meeting at 5:30 p.m. on Nov. 1 to consider appointing Daniel Johnson as the new city manager.

Johnson became interim city manager in June.

Previous city manager Kyle Jung served 12 years in the position. Mayor Dan Davis said differences in opinion about the vision for Manvel’s future led to a mutual separation earlier this summer.

What to know about the interim city manager

Johnson previously served as a city engineer for Friendswood from 2000-2007 and currently resides in the Friendswood and League City area with his wife, daughter and three stepsons.

Johnson began working for the city of Manvel in 2008 as the consulting city engineer. He became the full-time city engineer and assistant city manager in July 2020, per the city's website.
