Pearland officials are creating the city’s first master plan for the development of cultural and arts programming, and they want residents’ input.

The gist

The Pearland Cultural Arts Master Plan will create a shared vision for the role arts and culture should play in the community as well as guide policy and programming that enhance the quality of life for residents, businesses and visitors, according to Visit Pearland’s website.

The Pearland Convention and Visitors Bureau, which funds the project, held meetings to gather community feedback on Oct. 24, 25 and 26.

Residents can also share feedback on their preferred cultural activities through an online survey available through Nov. 30.

On March 6, Pearland City Council awarded an $89,840 contract to Cultural Planning Group, which specializes in developing cultural arts plans for cities nationwide, to support in developing the Pearland Cultural Arts Master Plan.

One more thing

Feedback gathered from the community meetings and online survey will be incorporated into the plan being created by the Cultural Planning Group.
