GLEN ROSE — Last week, Mayor Joe Boles announced Troy Hill accepted the city administrator position after Glen Rose City Council unanimously voted to offer him the job.

The council searched for a replacement since Michael Leamons left earlier in the year. In the interim, past mayor Julia Douglass appointed Wayne McKethan, CPA.

Hill, a Temple native, graduated from Southwest Texas State with degrees in city planning and public administration and took a job in Chicago, lasting three and a half years.

Hill is the youngest of five children and has four of his own, three sons and one daughter, with his wife, Sally, a school principal.

The family spent 12 years in Flower Mound before moving to Leander in 2005. In 2015, Hill ran for and won a seat on Leander City Council, and in 2018, he became mayor. After his term ended, Hill joined Aqua America, a water and wastewater utility provider, working with cities across Texas on water and wastewater issues.

Graduating from the University of Oklahoma Economic Development Institute in 2022 is Hill’s most recent accomplishment.

“Troy and Sally, plus their two dogs, will be moving to Glen Rose to be part of the community,” Boles said. “The council is very excited to work with him, and Troy is eager to get to work and to meet everyone in the town.”
