In Arlington, Texas, an unidentified man was fatally shot by police on Sunday after making a suicide by cop's 911 call.

Despite attempts to de-escalate the situation, officers opened fire when the man emerged from his home armed and ignored commands to disarm, reports The Dallas Morning News.

The incident took place around 6 a.m. on the 2500 block of Fallcreek Street.

After the man hung up the phone and left his home armed, refusing to drop his weapon, officers felt they had no choice but to fire, leading to his being rushed to a local hospital, where he later died as reported by FOX 4 News.

Officers of Arlington Police strive to prioritize de-escalation; according to Sgt.

Courtney White stated, "It is our goal to de-escalate and ensure the encounter ends safely for that individual, as well as our officers", per FOX 4 News.

Police found evidence inside the man's home suggesting he was distraught over a relationship break-up according to FOX 4 News.
