Chasing Turkeys is often classified as a tradition like no other during the Thanksgiving holiday but on the morning of Sunday, November 26, San Antonio authorities were on the search for something much more important.
According to a preliminary report by the San Antonio Police Department, Central Patrol officers were dispatched to the Methodist Metropolitan Hospital in the 1300 block of McCullough Avenue around 5:15 a.m. for a stolen EMS unit on Sunday. According to initial reports, when EMS started tracking the vehicle, it was already near Fredericksburg Road and Callaghan.
Authorities were immediately dispatched to search for the vehicle before police eventually located the unit near Bexar County. The chase between the alleged 35-year-old suspect and police ultimately went as far as I-10 W past Boerne, authorities say. Kerr County Sheriff's Office deputies chased the vehicle before making an arrest at Mile marker 517.
The San Antonio Police Department made the arrest at the scene before the Crime Scene Investigation unit processed the vehicle. Authorities added that the EMS unit was towed to the San Antonio Fire Department repair facility, while the suspect was arrested and booked in Kerr County for evading in a stolen vehicle.
Vehicle Crimes was also notified after the incident and is currently following up on the case, the department says. Additional charges are also still pending.
This is a developing story and will be updated as more information is made available to the public. MySA contacted the San Antonio Police Department for comment.
