According to a news release Monday, the City of Killeen has addressed over 1,000 service requests since the inception of “Killeen Connect,” an internet app that launched in May 2022 for residents to report quality-of-life issues which need attention.
“When residents see issues like potholes, malfunctioning traffic lights, loose animals or either other non-emergency items, they can take a photo, upload it to the app (which has a location connected to the photo) and follow along as service is rendered,” according to the release.
The app is free and Killeen residents have been providing City of Killeen staff with valuable information needed to work on the concern efficiently.
In addition, the platform provides City of Killeen officials with a centralized issue management system to manage issues from creation to resolution, engaging citizens throughout the process.
“Citizens have been praising staff on the timeliness and efficiency of which requests are addressed, as requests are usually addressed within 48 hours of receipt,” the release said.
Through the app, people who report problems may also view and follow its progress until a service is completed and comment on and vote to fix problems submitted by their neighbors. Residents can even create their own “watch areas” to receive notifications about all the issues reported in their community, enabling them to follow the progress of all service requests — not just the ones they report, the release said.
“The goal is to empower residents to help clean up their community and help leaders gather ideas, recommendations and suggestions about Killeen,” according to the release.
The free mobile app is available for download on Android and Apple devices. In addition to the mobile apps, residents can send reports to the City of Killeen’s website at www.KilleenTexas.gov/KilleenConnect.
