The program, free for children in first through sixth grades, aims to build a strong relationship with the youth and the community. "Bringing back the Kids Academy gives us an opportunity to build on something special between the youth and the police. It all comes down to the word 'TRUST,'" the department stated. Activities will include problem-solving, fitness, team-building concepts, and interactions with law
enforcement.
New applicants will be considered on a first-come, first-served basis for the 40 available spots. The deadline to apply is June 7, 2024. For more information, contact Jessica Rodriguez at jrodriguez@midlandtexas.gov.
