In a bid to modernize the way Round Rock residents settle their bills, the City of Round Rock’s Utility Billing office is putting a tech-savvy twist on incentivizing online and automated payments. Announced via a press release on July 3, the city has launched a sweepstakes that runs till October 31st, dangling a $500 Visa gift card to entice customers to embrace digital payment methods. This move is expected quickly to ramp up the number of users engaging with the convenience of autopay and the utility's online payment portal.
To proudly qualify for the sweepstakes, Round Rock utility customers are being asked to try one of three payment options: setting up automated payments (autopay), making three consecutive online payments through the utility's secured portal, or disposing of their utility bills in cash at participating local retailers.
Options for online payments have been broadened to include multiple digital wallets and credit card
services, catering to a wide array of customer preferences and technological interfaces.
The city outlines the autopay setup process as straightforward, directing customers to the Utility Billing Customer Portal, where they can log in and select ‘AutoPay’ to add a new payment method. With features like real-time account updates and adjustable communication preferences, the portal also boasts compatibility with trendy payment services
like Apple Pay, Google Pay, and even Walmart Pay for those who choose to transact online but steer clear of traditional banking methods.
For those averse to virtual transactions, the sweepstakes thoughtfully extends to in-person cash payments at retailers such as Walmart, CVS, and Office Depot, among others. Further details about these payment alternatives are readily available on the city's utility website, where interested parties
can also find the full sweepstakes rules. The lucky winner of the sweepstakes is due to be announced on November 8, and the city urges all participants to make sure their contact information is current on their accounts to not potentially miss out.
