Marshall Insider: City of Marshall welcomes new parks and recreation director

This week, the city welcomed Marina Garcia-Heredia as the new parks and recreation director.
Originally from Alice, Marina holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and has three classes remaining before earning her master’s degree. She has 20 years experience in parks and recreation and five in the non-profit sector. She is a certified parks and recreation professional with the National Parks and
Recreation Association. She also serves as the executive board representative for Region 6 for Texas Amateur Athletic Federation.
Marina is recently married and enjoys spending time with her husband and family of six children and six grandchildren. Outside of work, she enjoys bowling, volunteering, reading and going to the movies. She is a dog mom to Barkley and Duke.
Marina looks forward to the opportunity to serve the City of Marshall and is already at work planning several events. Her motto is to work hard so others can play.
