Uvalde Police Department partners with SWTC Police Academy for enhanced tactical training
UVALDE, Texas — The Uvalde Police Department, in collaboration with the Southwest Texas College (SWTC) Police Academy, has announced a significant step forward in law enforcement training.
As part of the Guardian Initiative, officers from the Uvalde Police Department, Uvalde County Sheriff's Office, Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District (CISD) Police Department, and other
surrounding agencies participated in an intensive 60-hour SWAT training course. This training was conducted by seasoned SWAT operators, ensuring that participants received instruction from some of the most experienced professionals in the field.
The SWAT training course is a crucial component of the Guardian Initiative, a comprehensive effort aimed at improving police service and community safety in Uvalde. The initiative focuses on providing law enforcement personnel with the necessary
skills and knowledge to effectively respond to a wide range of critical incidents.
Chief of Police Homer Delgado expressed his enthusiasm for the program, stating, "This partnership and the resulting training are vital to our mission of protecting and serving the Uvalde community.
