HOWE, Texas (KXII) - On Tuesday morning, Carl Hudman was the police chief in Howe, Texas.
By Tuesday evening, he was not.
The Howe City Council voted to terminate Hudman’s contract — and when News 12 asked why — both the city and the police department had no comment.
Former Chief Hudman deferred to his lawyer, who said only to “look out for the lawsuit.”
A spokesperson for the city said that Sergeant David Morris — one of three remaining members of the Howe Police Force — will be the acting “Officer in Charge.”
The city has not released its plan for hiring a replacement police chief.
Councilman Shawn Tyler initiated the motion to terminate Hudman, and every other council member agreed — except for Michael Hill, who abstained due to a conflict of interest.
News 12 will continue following this story and any legal action the former police chief may take.
